I met Whitney at a time in my journey where I had been in recovery from my eating disorder for about 2 and a half years. I became confident around food and was no longer scared to eat food which was a huge milestone for me. However, I was still struggling with knowing what exactly my body needed and how much. I was worried about working out and what foods to eat surrounding a workout and how much to even workout within a healthy limit. Whitney was able to give me all the answers I needed. She is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to nutrition and what your body needs, giving me recommendations on new meals I can cook that I am comfortable with, but still setting weekly goals to challenge myself just enough to step out of my comfort level a little and try new things. For instance, meal planning is a goal of mine, however, I was not ready to jump into full on meal planning everyday, for every meal. We started off small, for instance, only meal planning breakfast and dinner to start and building on that to eventually include lunch and snacks. Taking things like that step by step to grow a platform and build from it, I think is crucial and is something very unique to Whitney’s practice that others nutritionist just can not compare. Whitney never has made me feel judged in any way for my eating habits and constantly encourages me continue to build a healthy relationship surrounding food and my health!
